Luquillo Beach Puerto Rico

This beach is somewhat blocked from the east to winds and currents so its usually fairly calm here. This beach has very fine sand so the visibility is usually not so great near the beach, but if you swim out a bit the snorkeling visibility will start to clear up. There are waves here which are suitable for boogie boarding. For surfing, head over to La Pared beach in Luquillo. This is a public beach so the seaweeds that wash ashore are often cleaned up by the city workers. For the most part, this is a very clean beach. The weekend parties often leave a trace, but this is cleaned up fairly quickly. Technically this beach has hours but they are not strictly enforced. Luquillo beach is open 7 days a week. 8:30am- 5:00pm. There are some "closed" beach holidays but really you can go to this beach whenever you want. On the beach, there are kiosks selling some typical foods (pinchos, empanadillas, etc). They taste pretty good and are only a buck or two. They have beer for $1.50 and yummy frozen pina coladas for only $4.00 with rum! There is also a kiosk selling souvenirs and beach stuff – towels, sunglasses, etc. |
