El Yunque Baño de Oro Trail

The trail starts at PR 191, km 12.25 about 50 yards south (up) from the Palo Colorado Visitors Center. Parking is available at the Palo Colorado Visitors Center parking lots and at a designated area on the road across from the trailhead.

The Baño de Oro trail is a short 0.3 miles trail, which rises from 2,132 feet to 2,362 feet. Hiking time is approximately 20 minutes to the junction with the lower part of the El Yunque trail. Here you can either retrace your steps or continue on down the El Yunque trail to the trailhead (approximately 20 minutes) making a one-mile “loop”. The trail is moderate in difficulty, and is steep in some places. You will find a rain shelter at the mid-point of the first section of the walk.
